There is a certain gratification in drinking an aged wine—the combined pleasure of having had the patience of waiting 5, 10, 15 or more years to enjoy a treasured bottle and the enjoyment of the wine itself. The Far Niente Cave Collection suits the desire to drink beautifully aged wines without the wait. Each January, we release a limited selection of vintages from the cave library. These older vintage wines are available until the year’s allocation is sold out. Some disappear in a matter of weeks, while others remain longer.
We began the Cave Collection in the late 1980s so people could experience our older vintages alongside our newest releases. With each vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay (Far Niente Chardonnays are noted for their ability to age), we hold aside a percentage of bottles, finish them with a special, black-banded Cave Collection capsule and place them in a specially branded, six-bottle wooden box. The Cave Collection allows one to enjoy an aged wine without having to endure years of patient waiting—revisit a favorite vintage from the past. Best of all, buyers can have confidence knowing that these wines have been properly cellared for the duration.
