We loved celebrating our Annual Cabernet Futures Barrel Tasting with everyone this past weekend!
The 2016 Napa Valley growing season gave us a gorgeous vintage. The vines and crop load had near-perfect balance, and as a whole, the wines showed pure, ripe fruit, with length and complexity. We were thrilled to share this very first taste of our still-maturing 2016 Nickel & Nickel Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons with our members and guests.
We debuted two new wines during our annual barrel tasting: the first from a northern Calistoga vineyard called Kenefick Ranch and the second from a newly acquired Oakville site called Crossroads Vineyard. Â We'll share more about these wines soon! And we'll be sure to keep everyone who scooped up some of the 2016 vintage updated on the progress of their wines throughout the year.
Buying Futures refers to purchasing wine that is still maturing in barrel. In France, this more than 200-year old practice is known as en primeur, which literally translates to, as being new.LEARN MORE
Last Saturday, wine club members gathered to celebrate some of our most-loved Far Niente Cabernets during our annual Cabernet Day celebration. We pulled the corks on some very special Cave Collection vintages (including a 36-years-young 1983 Far Niente Cabernet!) alongside the star of the event, the stunning 2016 Far Niente Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon.LEARN MORE
