Wineries and Vineyards

Our Cabernets. Our Chardonnays. Our Thoughts.

At Far Niente, we like to think of our wines as the exceptions rather than the norms. Most of our fans and wine reviewers would concur that we do things differently, which results in exceptional wines.

Our Cabernets, for example, are created with great finesse and sophistication. Ours are not overly-extracted powerhouses that taste fine for the first sip or two until you realize one glass is about your capacity. Rather, Far Niente Cabernets are more elegant, more plush, and complex as layer after layer of flavors unfolds. Meaning your opportunities for enjoyment extend beyond a few sips or just one glass. And your ability to appreciate nuance and subtleties is ever-present.

Our Chardonnays are non-malolactic and created to age, which is far from typical of Napa Valley or any California Chardonnays for that matter. We allow the grapes to retain their natural acidity, which over time allows the wines to offer a more sophisticated, richer palate profile. In their youth, our Chardonnays are fruit-forward and present a bright, crisp acidity, but as they age that richer, creamier profile takes hold.

Our Winery

Far Niente Chardonnay is a blend of superb Napa Valley vineyards, many of which are located in Coombsville, a cool growing region protected by the rolling hills east of Napa. With less wind, and deeper, well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic ash soils, the results are wines with a refined, creamy and rich palate after proper aging. But even if patience is not your virtue, Far Niente Chardonnays in their youth offer a bright, fruit-forward, and delicious wine experience.

Our Vineyards

Selecting and nurturing a vineyard is arguably the most important thing we can do. Perhaps that explains why we’re so exacting. Our wines grow in some of the most coveted regions of the Napa Valley, nurtured by sustainable practices, tried and true farming techniques, and decades of experience. This allows us to produce wines of a caliber unreachable by all but a few, and always with a distinctive and exceptional character.

This Napa Valley Merlot Loves Food (Especially These Pork Chops)

It’s Single-Vineyard Merlot’s season to shine!

Expertly crafted Napa Valley Merlot brings some stellar qualities to the table: impeccable balance and silky, velvety textures. It's also remarkably versatile, especially with spring wine and food recipes, from spring ham to tacos layered with shredded, slow smoked pork or brisket.

A recent food and wine pairing favorite? A cinnamon-rubbed pork chop paired with with one of the most compelling, food-friendly Merlots in our portfolio: Nickel & Nickel Suscol Ranch Merlot, Napa Valley.
